Spoon Carving with JoJo Wood
March 21st and 22nd. 2020
JoJo Wood is a well known spoon carver from Birmingham, UK. A second generation green woodworker, she learned to carve with her father since she was a child. We are very lucky to have her as a guest in our workshop next March for an Intensive Weekend Course.
“I am a spoon carver, a clog maker and a teacher. As a second generation green woodworker, I have been making almost since I could walk. I spent my early years travelling the world with my father, meeting craftspeople and amassing woodwork skills and knowledge, building the perfect foundations for mastering my chosen crafts. I am now one of the world’s leading spoon carvers, and have trained in the critically endangered craft of traditional clog making. I aim to inspire more women and younger people to get into woodworking, teaching that technique wins over physical strength every time.
I am also passionate about how beneficial craft can be for our mental wellbeing. I have spoken regularly over the years about my own experiences within craft, and how I have seen craft help other people. I am founder of Pathcarvers, a social enterprise based in Birmingham, UK, where we try to help bring the positive aspects of creativity to a wider audience.
I also run a tool making company, Wood Tools, with my father, where we make high quality affordable tools to help people along their carving journey. “
